Gary Eastment Position:  Senior Minister and Chaplain to the University | AFES Campus Pastor As Chaplain, Gary has overall responsibility for St Mark’s ministries, with a focus on student work and evangelism. He is mostly surprised that people actually pay him to have the honour of fulfilling this role. He has a distant science background, but has more recently led a church in Sydney and worked as a school chaplain. Gary is a self-confessed bike-nerd (mountain biking), a proud coffee snob and even prouder husband to Rebecca and father of three kids. Gary loves being a christian. He believes that being a christian makes the most sense of life and brings joy, hope and purpose not found anywhere but Him.

Gus Robinson Position:  Senior associate minster Gus is married to Christy and they have 4 young, lively kids. Gus became a Christian at uneChurch some 20 years ago when he was surprised by the rational, historical basis for the claims of Jesus Christ.   Gus was a school teacher for 7 years before heading to bible college to train for ministry. Having served as the minister in Tenterfield, he is stoked to back at his ‘home’ church. As the Maturity Pastor, his main responsibilities are to basically do anything that helps us grow in our faith. He teaches the bible, coordinates the Cell Groups, trains and equips leaders and provide pathways for new leaders to develop. Gus is currently delving back into study by looking at biblical counselling and theological education. Gus loves being paid to study and teach the Bible. In his spare time he loves heading out bush with his beloved Patrol and is waiting for the Bledisloe Cup to come back home.

Tam Ramsay Position:  Women and Children's Worker Tam spends the majority of her time meeting with women to read the Bible, pray and encourage them in godliness amidst the busyness of life. She is also responsible for overseeing the kids ministry and supporting key leaders who serve in this area 'on the ground' each week. Prior to studying theology, Tam worked as an Occupational Therapist in Sydney but is delighted to now spend her days talking about the great news of Jesus full time. Apart from the privilege of being on staff at Chapel, Tam thoroughly enjoys the Armidale 'tree change' and cannot imagine living in a major city again anytime in the near future! When she's not working, you'll find Tam pottering around her garden, sewing, watching her latest TV series addiction on DVD or meeting with friends about town. In a world that offers false hope and temporary happiness, Tam wholeheartedly believes that there is nowhere else we find true fulfilment but in Christ Jesus, who alone has the words of eternal life (John 6:68).

Michael Hemans Position:  Youth worker and campus ministry assistant   Michael is our youth worker, which he thinks is amazing that he gets to hang out with young people, play stupid games and tell them about Jesus. He grew up in South America as a missionary kid before moving to Sydney to become a city kid. He then came to Armidale to study Psychology at UNE. He loves to ride motorbikes off road, loves good coffee, loves to play music poorly on whatever instrument comes his way. But mostly he loves his Lord Jesus. He has seen the destructive nature of sin, and experienced the redemptive power of the gospel, which is why he is so passionate about telling young people about Christ. He loves teaching the bible, and seeing how rich scripture is when you wrestle with it. He aims to live his life by Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.”

MICHAEL HEMANS

Matt Knights Position:  Church Administrator (or ‘Factotum’ i.e. a general servant having many diverse activities or responsibilities).    Matt runs the uneChurch and Anglican Chaplaincy Office at UNE (8.30am -12.30pm weekdays), doing anything to support and advance Gospel ministry on Campus from paying the bills, ordering and organising stuff, to keeping uneChurch supplied and going, fielding a myriad of calls and emails, sorting out church music, and liasing with the wider university campus. He’s continually amazed and humbled that the same Jesus in whom “all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell” and who made peace for all who trust in Him “by the blood of his cross” (Col 1), is the same risen Lord who invites sinners into restored friendship with the Living God … “Come and have breakfast.” John 21. Wow!
